A Fall Day at the Farm with Friends

At the library on Friday, we picked up a CD of pirate songs, so much of Friday and Saturday was spent with Rudy being a pirate.

On our way to meet up with our friends, Lily, Kim and Olav, we stopped for a short time to visit with Paige and Bill and Renee. It's amazing that Paige is almost two months old already!

Then we headed to a nearby farm to meet Lily, Kim and Olav and pick some apples and pumpkins. Rudy was still in pirate mode and attempted to us an apple as an eye patch.

We were at the farm at the end of apple season so the only apples left were Granny Smith apples. We picked some off the tree to take home and took some pictures of some adorable, if not always cooperative, Guatemalans.
Trying to get two four year olds to stand still and look at the camera:

We had a nice long hayride to the apples, then from the apples to the corn maze and the pumpkins and then back to the start. Of course the kids preferred to pick the seat at the front - right behind the tractor.

Rudy searching for the perfect pumpkin, picked this one out and started saying, "I think I can, I think I can." as he attempted to move it.

Lily decided to help out.

The two of them attempted to lift it...

... and then determined that rolling it was a better choice.

We convinced Rudy to choose a slightly smaller pumpkin (we certainly weren't going to carry it all the way back for him), and he and Lily posed first, sitting on their pumpkins (a little hard for Lily to do since hers was so much smaller)...

... and then holding their pumpkins.

Rudy attempting to whistle for us in the pumpkin patch.

This would be such a great picture of the three of us if not for Rudy's face - he just kept saying "cheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeese."

After alL our hard work at the farm, we were all ready for dinner. The restaurant was pretty empty and we got a nice big area to spread out, so Rudy and Lily practically had their own table with plenty of room to play.
Being silly at the table...

...both eating dinner.

We are so glad that Kim and Olav and Lily were able to meet up with us as they headed through our area this weekend. On the way home, Rudy said, "I miss Lily." Good thing we're all going camping again soon!
