This past weekend was our annual fall camping trip (not to be confused with our annual spring camping trip!).
We left Friday afternoon and headed for the ferry. We were hoping for a clear night so we could see the sunset while we rode, but it wasn't too be. It was a windy ride.
It was after 8 when we finally arrived at the camp site. Chris and Megan and the girls had been there for several hours, and Kim and Olav arrived just before us. While we unpacked, the finger lights and Halloween costume came out!
And Rudy and Lily G. played for a while.
The kids jump right back into playing with each other, even after not having seen each other in months! As we waited for breakfast on Saturday morning, they literally jumped back in! It wasn't our house or our beds, so we let them jump all they wanted. Besides, we were all crammed into a small cabin - there was only so much they could do!
After breakfast, we dressed for the rain and headed out.
First stop the day- a short walk to the pavilion where there were arts and crafts. Thank goodness for planned activities at the campground!!!
Then we headed back to our cabins for lunch. Paul made a quick run to a nearby (read 10 miles or so away) store for some soup.
While we prepared lunch, Rudy decided to add his Harry Potter scar himself. The girls were happy to watch.
Not a bad job - until he decided to add more lines and had scribbles all over his forehead!

Even Ashton got in on the fun!
After lunch we drove over to the nature center. As soon as we arrived, we saw the first bit of nature - this huge bird.
And if you are a five-year-old boy, you have to chase the bird until it hops on a car.
More nature - a daddy long legs that we watched on the wall. Then it went off the wall.
And then Rudy tried to see if it would crawl away between his legs. Rudy eventually lost patience waiting and just jumped over the spider.
After spending time at the nature center, we got the kids dressed in their costumes to go trick or treating. I went downstairs to the bathroom, and came back to this. I'm not sure how he ended up with Lily's barbie wig!

After a cold, rainy day, a fire sure would be nice. We got the fire, briefly, then it rained again.
Since the rain stopped and the sun was out Sunday morning, Paul, Rudy and I decided to take a walk by the pond before breakfast. Paul was fortunate to get a coffee delivery from Olav just as we left.
