Maurice River Bluffs hike

Sunday before church Rudy was asking what we were doing after church and offered the suggestions that he wanted to go to a Chuck E Cheese-type-place. We told him there wasn't anything nearby like that and it wasn't in our plans for the day.
After church he said, "Can we go on a hike?" Since he usually protests every time we suggest that, we immediately said yes.
We drove out to Millville area to the Maurice River Bluffs. It was more overcast there than at home and we did get rained on a little but it was a nice fall hike.

Rudy ran through the woods shooting at zombies the whole way.

He loved looking over the bluffs and kept asking Paul if they were like the cliffs he'd just seen in California.

A tree whose roots were completely exposed and heading straight into the water.

A piece of metal rail that a tree had grown around.

Rudy tried to get on this, but getting to the base of it was a little treacherous and he gave up.

Birthday Hike

My request for my birthday was that we take a hike. I found a place we hadn't been called Maurice River Bluffs. It was about a 2 mile hike, surprisingly hilly for New Jersey. Had we taken one trail down by the water, we might have been able to see some of the bald eagle nests.

Starting off. Rudy pretending to hit me.

After complaining numerous times about how much he hated hiking,he ran ahead and explored.

The Karate Kid

Exploring ruins. He wanted me to come over with him because he said, "This is the setting in movies where something bad always happens."

Running out of steam. Rudy had his first non-family sleepover the night before. He didn't go to be until midnight or later and was awake around 6, so he was tired!

A cool tree in the middle of the trail that had twisted.

Our boy-always so cooperative.

A peaceful walk back to the car.
