Mother's Day Weekend

On Saturday, I took Rudy to the Academy of natural Sciences in Philadelphia. The main draw was that the film Jurassic Park was showing in the theater and I thought he'd enjoy seeing it for the first time on a big screen. The movie was a hit and then we explored the rest of the museum.

This was a green screen where dinosaurs were behind and you could insert yourself in the action. He loved this and we even made a few videos of him doing this.

He got to go on an archaelogical dig..

And of course, playing with the dinosaur magnets on the wall, was fun, too.

He was attacked by a T-Rex

He walked on a treadmill to make a dinosaur skeleton walk.

We went into the butterfly room.

he is standing out the room looking at the same blue butterfly.

He rode on a  turtle.

He sat on an egg (in costume).

Then he snuck in for a few minutes to watch part of the second Jurassic park movie.

My Mother's Day started with this being brought down to me..

We went to Shea's for breakfast and then headed out to a new place for a hike- Franklin Parker Preserve.

If you look closely you can see many small frogs in the puddle.

It was a hazy but warm day.

Ants working hard at moving sticks and walking back and forth between two different spots. We couldn't quite figure out what they were doing but it was fascinating.

Rudy declared that if we did not walk on the exact squares, all would explode, so we carefully followed him across.

We took a little detour to go on this bridge and take a look.

Rudy wasn't happy about the detour.

At the end was an observation deck. Eagles nest in the area, but we didn't see any that day. By this point, Rudy was tired and unhappy with being dragged on a hike.
