Camping, Part 2 - Day 1

After counting down for about a week, the day of camping finally arrived. Between work and other obligations, Paul and I hadn't gotten much done before Friday, so we spent Friday morning running around- making last minute purchases, packing, taking the animals to kennels, etc. In the midst of it all, Rudy wanted to take a picture of us.

We got started a little later than we had planned but by 1:00 we were finally on the road. Here's a picture of Rudy through my headrest as we head out.

We arrived in Maryland at the campsite just after Chris, Megan , Liliana and Charlotte and just before Olav, Kim and Lily. Here Rudy and Lily discovered that they both had negros y blancos gatos.

Once the tents were all set up, dinner was started. We had divided up the meals and each family was responsible for 2 meals. The first night Paul and I made dinner - shrimp and pepper stir fry with potato salad. Kim brought the makings for s'mores so after dinner we made them.

The three Guatemalans getting ready for s'mores.

Rudy and Liliana striking a pose (Rudy's head is a little dirty but we have a smudge on our camera - that's what the marks on his forehead are- he didn't get beat up!).

Everybody loves s'mores!

Making them is serious work.

Eating them is not.

Bedtime the first night was a little difficult. All the kids had trouble going to sleep. Most of the adults went to bed early too.
