Cape May Zoo Night Walk

Friday night we signed up for a night walk at the zoo. We arrived around 6:30 ready to go. (Rudy has his night vision goggles with him!)
We discovered that N LOVES the stroller. This is going to be huge!

We entered by the tiger cage.

Next stop was small mammal bobcats.

Rudy was right up front for all the animals. N really didn't care much about them. He was happy just to be pushed around.

Rudy enjoyed pushing N around. Score 2 for the stroller- no kid to carry and no kid to push!

The Brazza Monkeys- possibly my favorites.

 

 

 

While Paul and I laughed at the monkeys, Rudy was behind us, fascinated by the peacock (it did have a cool white stripe on its tail). Reminded us of the first time we took him to the zoo and he was only interested in the ducks!

The goats were very friendly. We got to feed them.

Even N was interested in that. I helped him the first time and after that, he was all over it.

We ended the walk as it got dark in the reptile house with snacks. Then we headed back to our car (past the tiger cage- a little spooky in the dark knowing the tiger is nearby but you can't see it.) By the time we got home, our backseat looked like this. It was definitely a successful night!

White Clay Creek State Park

Last week, N, joined us. We anticipate he will be with us for a few months, but we also know that could change at any time. He is 2 1/2 and Rudy alternately loves having him around and is driven crazy by N.

On Sunday we went to Delaware for the day to hang out with our camping friends. At first N wanted nothing to do with anyone, but as soon as food and drink and toys were pulled out, he quickly made friends.

Light sabers and duels were a big part of the day, as usual. And Rudy still manages to convince two 7 year old girls to run around and play and fight with him. His charm is unending. :)

Kim has nicknamed Charlotte "The Baby Whisperer" because of her love of the littlest ones and her ability to follow them and play with them and appease them as needed. N was no different.

Although only about 6 months apart, Ashton and N didn't really pay much attention to each other.

Even on the playground temper tantrums erupt...

So fun watching these three. Four years ago this summer, many families that adopted through our agency got together at the zoo in DC to meet. From that get-together came our friendship with these families. These 3 are all seven and in first grade and they just get along so well. And even though we only see each other a few times a year, they jump right back into the friendship every time we meet.

As he was lying on the ground crying about something, N realized that there were wood chips and mulch he could actually play with on the ground. Tantrum ended.
