Another Snow Storm?

Last weekend we got more snow. It's beginngin to look like we're going to have another long snowy winter. Rudy wasn't very interested at first in going out in the snow when we told him we were going to go out and shovel. He told us he would just stay inside and watch TV, but when we told him he could stay inside, but not watch TV, he changed his mind. In fact, Paul and I were still getting dressed when we discovered he had headed outside already (glove, scarf and hatless no less).
Here he waits at the back door to throw a pile of snow (it didn't pack well enough to make snowballs).

Rudy found a big branch and he and Paul played Snow Ball.

As you can see it was still snowing pretty good when we went out. And this time our faithful snow dog decided he wanted to take a walk, too.

More Snow Pictures

We had to shovel the snow at Paul's mom's house. She has a long driveway so Rudy had a lot of snow to play in. Here I shaped a chair out of the snow for him to sit on.

And then he just found a pile of snow to sit on and a nice big chunk of snow to eat.

Snow Storm Day 2

This is what we woke up to - the snow stopped falling but it was windy for most of the day.

The backyard (through a window).

The back door...

... too deep even for a Swissy- this is the first year he wasn't excited about the snow and running around in it. His age is definitely showing.

The view out the front door.

By about 9 I ventured out to take some pictures and start some shoveling. Paul has been sick the last few days so I got most of the shoveling done, gradually over the day.

The drifts of sow looked really cool on the roofs.

The boy ready to brave the snow.

It was really deep - the snow came top at least my knees, so on Rudy it was almost waist-high.

And of course he had to sit down or fall in it several times.

As I shoveled in the front, he kept asking for the shovel, which I couldn't give to him, so I gave him a brush and told him he could clean off my car. That lasted about a minute and then he much nprefered to stand behind me ad throw snow at me while I shoveled.

The completed walkway.

Snow Storm Day 1

Late last night the snow began. It fell very slowly overnight. By 11:30 this morning - more than 12 hours into it, we had maybe an inch of snow. Keep an eye on the lights along the walkway as the snow increases.

What do you do when you are relaxing at home for the second day in a row? Play with the Christmas presents over and over. Paul and Rudy used all the blocks to build this ship.

The view of our backyard by about 12:30 - almost 2 inches at this point.

And the front yard again at 3:00.

By 4:00 this is what the front looked like- we definitely had over 3 inches by now. The win really started blowing and the "blizzard conditions" we were being told abut were definitely occurring.

So what better way to combat a cold snowy day than to have some hot chocolate! We never did make i outside - Rudy never really asked and it was so cold and windy, and Paul wasn't feeling well, that we didn't care if we went out today. Tomorrow we will have a lot of shoveling to do!

Rudy is always such a neat eater!

Our backyard at 4:30. You can see some new dog tracks, but the old ones are all covered over.

The view through our front door at 6:00. The wind had blown so much our storm door is covered with snow.

Notice that the lights along the walkway are completely buried. So we now have at least 6 inches, and it is still snowing.

I think we're only about halfway at our total accumulation and the storm is supposed to go on until 1pm tomorrow so we'll see what our final amount is!

Christmas Events

During the past week we celebrated Christmas a few different ways.

While home bound during the snowstorm, we decorated our tree. If you look closely at the window, you can see the snow piled up on the spruce outside.

Friday night (pre-storm) we went to 'Mithmille' to see the Christmas lights and do some shopping. The lake has all these Christmas trees that are set to music.

Of course, Spiderman joined us on that outing. We also rode the train (very cold when you sit in the front of it) and Rudy rode the carousel.

Paul's company had a Christmas party on Thursday night. Here is Rudy refusing to have a picture taken.

And here he is happily dancing with, K, the daughter of one of Paul's co-workers. Rudy only sees her twice a year at company events but he loves playing with her and she looks forward to seeing him. It is nice for us to have a babysitter so we don't have to amuse him the whole time.

Rudy took this picture of Santa at the party.

I think this is about the 3rd Santa picture we have from this season. This Santa had bells and when the kids sat with him, they were able to jingle the bells, which was a hit with Rudy.

Displaying his gifts from Santa - a bear he named "Pinky White" since he's got a pink hat and scarf and is white, and a Spiderman memory game.
