Mother's Day Hike

On Mather's Day we celebrated seeing the sun by going to Cape May for a hike. We visited Lizard Tail Swamp, which is actually named after a plant.

We were lucky enough to see a few Eastern Salamanders. They blended really well with the branches and leave, but we did find a few of them.

There were a few small bridges to cross.

Another salamander on the tree.

After the hike we went for dinner in Cape May at The Ugly Mug.

Another Day, Another Hike

Last Sunday we went to Black Run preserve in Evesham for a short hike. We started out looking for a geocache, but after a while realized that we weren't near enough to it to find.

So we just hiked.

Lots of beautiful lily pads.

A lovely flower that we eventually found out is laurel.

Some small creeks

Yup, he's gotta touch it.

It was determined that his mossy hilly area looked like where the hobbits would live.

Birthday Hike

My request for my birthday was that we take a hike. I found a place we hadn't been called Maurice River Bluffs. It was about a 2 mile hike, surprisingly hilly for New Jersey. Had we taken one trail down by the water, we might have been able to see some of the bald eagle nests.

Starting off. Rudy pretending to hit me.

After complaining numerous times about how much he hated hiking,he ran ahead and explored.

The Karate Kid

Exploring ruins. He wanted me to come over with him because he said, "This is the setting in movies where something bad always happens."

Running out of steam. Rudy had his first non-family sleepover the night before. He didn't go to be until midnight or later and was awake around 6, so he was tired!

A cool tree in the middle of the trail that had twisted.

Our boy-always so cooperative.

A peaceful walk back to the car.
