Happy 7th Birthday, Rudy

To continue our tradition from last year, we started celebrating Rudy's birthday a little early with a visit to the store to buy some Lego sets. We offer this instead of a party- it's cheaper and much less stressful; plus, Paul and I get an afternoon to sit and read out of it as Rudy puts his Lego sets together!
Then we celebrated at Thanksgiving, and these are the pictures from his actual birthday.

Here is his bed head look as he eats breakfast.

Before school he opened his presents from us; it was a percussion theme this year!

Every time we've been in the music store lately he asks for a drum. I'm sure he would have loved a full drum set, but we decided a small drum was a good start. In a Native American store in Smithville he always plays with and asks for the wooden frog.

After his shower (no more bed head) and before school, he tried out his new instruments. According to Paul, his songs all involved the word "fart". 7 is such a fun age!

For dinner we told him he could pick where to go or what we cooked. We tried to steer him towards someplace we wanted to eat, but he stuck with Burger King, mainly because he wanted a toy (which didn't turn out to be much of anything).
And so now our little boy is officially 7.
