Civil War Reenactment

This weekend Cold Spring Village was having a Civil War reenactment. Rudy has been talking about this date for weeks. He couldn't wait to go. Saturday he and Paul headed out but it was raining. They got a lot of time to talk to the people there and explore everything, but the reenactment got canceled because of the rain, so Rudy was determined to go back today.

So today I headed back with him. The reenactment wasn't very exciting. Other than hearing guns and canons, we couldn't really see much except troops standing and shooting. There wasn't a lot of drama or acting involved.
And our sound-sensitive boy basically spent the first 15 minutes like this. (this picture was taken before anything even started in anticipation of the canons!)

Canon smoke

Another canon
Fire!
Getting ready

Prepare!

A few times he even walked a little farther away from the battle to get away from the noise.

Once the battle was over, we watched this troop get a speech from their leader (captain? general?). They were an Irish-American brigade.
