Dad's Birthday

Saturday was Dad's birthday (we won't mention how old but I think Paige guessed 7 and Rudy guessed 29), so we took him out to dinner.  Paige and Bill joined us as a surprise.

Grandpa and 2/5 of his grandchildren.

Rudy brought the Lego ship that he had just created earlier in the day. On the way to dinner we reminded him that Paige might want to play with it, and it was ok if he didn't want to share it, but maybe he should be prepared to let her play with one of the figures. He said there was no way he was going to let her use his droid, but she could play with the other guy.
Then, after dinner, Rudy walked over to where Paige was, then casually pulled a chair from another table over so he could sit next to her, and proceeded to show her his ship, droid and guys, and let her play with whatever she wanted. She kept asking, "Can I play with it?" even as she had it in front of her. I have to say, after these last two get-togethers, I think Paige might have her cousin wrapped around her finger.

After dinner we went back to Dad's house to show him how to work with his ipod. Rudy got a hold of the camera and snapped some pictures.

Random Rudy Photos

For his birthday/Christmas Rudy got a camera from Aunt Vincie. On the drive home after receiving the camera, he took about 15 minutes of video out the car window - of the trees and passing cars. I won't bore you with it but believe, it was pretty boring - and shaky.

I've been trying to leave the camera out so he will sometimes get inspired to just pick it up and take pictures. Here's the outcome.

Blizzard of 2010

It has been an unusually snowy winter for us. Last weekend we had an unexpected snowstorm that left us with about 6 inches. Then Tuesday morning we had more snow. Seen here - just a few inches outside of our kitchen window.

This weekend we are getting a blizzard and expecting close to 2 feet of snow. It's been over 10 years since we've had this much snow. Since my dad is away, and we have to keep an eye on his cat, Dusty, on the weekends (he has pet sitters coming in during the week), we figured we should bring him to our house since we'll be snowed in. This hasn't been too bad so far , considering we have 2 cats and a dog. Most of them are doing a good job of ignoring each other and staying in different parts of the house. Dusty is craving attention, though. Last night he sat at Paul's feet while he was on the computer.

Before I went to bed last night, the snow had started. Here's the view outside our front door at 10pm.

And here's the same view this morning at 7am.

If you look closely, you can see that they actually plowed the street during the night - there are big piles of snow at the edge of the street - but the streets are already covered again. I'd say we had about 12 inches at this point and the snow is not scheduled to end until tonight.
