Scout Camp

Rudy spent a day at a scout camp nearby recently. We were supposed to spend the night but the weather report was not good and we had something to do the next morning, so we ended up just spending the day. He got to shoot a bb rifle.

He and his troop had to make up a skit about choosing a good leader.

They got to practice their fire making skills using flint and magnesium. No one successfully started a fire, but they all got sparks.

Rudy's scout troop went to one of the Spring training games at Citizen's Bank Park and were able to walk on the field.

It was a surprisingly warm night for April, which was good so when the rain came, we weren't freezing.

After the rain delay the sky was beautiful.

A cameraman came around and the boys stood in front waiting for their moment to shine.

And they got it.

February

On a snowy February afternoon, we took a walk at the wildlife refuge. It wasn't very cold but it was scenic.

As we took one last trail to head back to our car, we came across a hawk sitting just above us. We stayed and watched and took pictures for probably 15 minutes or so, but it never flew away or even moved very much.

Rudy tried to distract it from below.

February also brought the Pinewood Derby with scouts.
