A Perfect Day

This morning we headed out with a list of things to do. We started out at Boscov's for a Lego build event. This being the first day of December, Rudy had already had a Lego thrill in the morning because he got to open the first window of his Lego Star Wars Advnet calendar, so it was already shaping up to be a perfect day for him. After the Lego build event, we walked around the mall, an older , pretty empty mall, that is soon to close. We stopped in to see the model train displays that are always up. Then for lunch we ate at a pizza place that has been at the mall forever- and has some of the best pizza around.
After lunch we headed to stop #2- the Christmas tree farm. We aren't ready for the tree yet, but we tagged it today.
We arrived and were greeted by Santa who asked Rudy questions about why he was there, and whether he liked cookies. Then he gave Rudy a little bag of cookies (made by Mrs. Claus, of course) and candy and treats. Rudy indulged in the 'junk' while we walked around the farm.

Peek-a-boo!

We finally found the perfect tree (well, Paul and I did, Rudy insisted any tree we picked was wrong and he wanted a different one, As my mother always used to say RHIP - rank has its priveleges- so Paul and I picked the tree!) and I attempted to hang it before passing the job on to my taller husband.

Our tree. Rudy being his usual ornery picture taker, decided to hide when I counted to three...

...so I, being a smart mom, took the next picture on 2! Success!!

After tagging our tree, we ran to the library and then headed to the boardwalk for a train show that was on the pier. We arrived at the pier to find the train show had been canceled. Since it was anice day, we walked around the boardwalk for a while and played in some of the arcades.
This kid is going to be trouble when he gets a license!

An intense air hockey game.

Nothing better on the boardwalk than ice cream (unless you are me and easily cold, in which case there is nothing better than some chocolate candy!).

At one point, driving in the car, with a favorite song playing on the radio, Rudy declared this to be the best day ever. I have to agree.
