As always,
Memorial Day started with a parade. We live
close enough to the parade route that we walked down there. When we arrived, we met up with a family from church. There are 3 boy (triplets- God bless the mom!) who are about 4 years older than Rudy, and Rudy adores the boys (they are also
the ones who gave him all the costumes). So we watched the parade with them.
A big tradition with parades seems to be passing out as much candy as possible to the kids. Here is Rudy bringing some of his loot to Paul.

After
the parade, there is a ceremony at a local park. We stopped there and talked to some friends, but Rudy was hot and thirsty and he hadn't been feeling great all weekend so we decided to just head home. We debated about what to do for the day - go to a park and take a walk was the forerunner and then we realized how hot the day was and nixed that idea. The beach sounded perfect, but not somewhere we wanted to be on Memorial Day. So we decided to stay at home and fill Rudy's pool and hang out in the backyard. It was the perfect choice.

Another good picture of us taken by Rudy.

Rudy
found a bug on the
chair and spent a lot of time checking it out.

He even used his magnifying glass to look more closely.

He spent part of the day trying to skip stones on the pool's surface. He was always disappointed that it didn't work; we
explained several times that the rocks were too big ad not the right size AND that the pool was too small.
Looks like a fun weekend! How fun to go to the parade. We only have a couple around here, and they aren't easy for us to get to. Such sweet memories. Had to smile on the rocks. It must be a boy thing to throw as many things in the water as possible. I always love seeing Rudy pics!
