Big Bird Elmo
That was the phrase we heard over and over again on Sunday when we went to see Sesame Street Live. The minute Big Bird and Elmo left the stage Rudy would say "Big Bird Elmo" making sure they would be coming back. As you can see from the pictures he loved the show. He sat there looking very serioso the whole time.

Swimming
Note: I thought I posted this on Saturday after the swim lesson but somehow it became a draft and was waiting for me to post it. Sorry for the delay - but now I don't have to come up with a post for today. :)

Rudy had his first swim lesson today. He's been talking about it since last night when we told him what we were doing. The funny thing is, when we visited him the first two times he loved being in the pool. But in June when we were in Antigua he hated the pool. Now granted, the pool was not heated and the water was freezing, but he wanted nothing to do with it. Then in October, he didn't like the bath tub or the pool. He got over the bath tub within a few days but the whole time we were in Guatemala, if we even went near the pool, he cried. Especially if we tried to take his shoes off near the pool. However, he has become quite the adventurer in the tub - he puts his face in the water, he splashes, he lies down - so we figured he was ready for swim lessons.
He had absolutely no hesitation today. He loved going in the pool and loved watching everyone else in the pool. He even commented on the other "ninos crying" - as if to say WHY are they crying?!

By the end of the lesson, the teacher put a flotation belt on him, gave him a noodle to hold onto and said as soon as he starts kicking his feet, he'll be swimming. I think we're going to be planning for the 2024 Olympics.

Fun
Even though Rudy has been sick the last few days - for what seems like the 50th time since October- he's had lots of fun.

Yesterday I was on the computer and I could hear him playing with a toy behind me. Well I turned around at one point and could not see Rudy. He had apparently climbed into the table with the toy in it. Here he is coming back out of it.
We finally had a little sun and warm weather so he got to play outside, which hasn't happened in a long time.
His new favorite thing is Sesame Street. We are taking him to see Sesame Street Live on Sunday. So here he is lounging in his chair while watching Sesame Street. He sat like this for almost the whole hour.

Ready for the Season
As you can see, we're determined to make Rudy a Phillies fan - good or bad. He loves his hat and was happy to wear it almost the whole day when we first bought it.
However, now when he puts his hat on, he always wears it this way. I think we're in trouble!

Books
As evidenced in previous posts, Rudy likes books. These pictures are from last week. Rudy was just sitting on the floor in our entry way reading before we went out.
We ran a few errands and were heading to the library. The whole time we were out he asked about when we were going to get books. When we came home, he took of his coat and resumed his previous position with his new books. Of course he got a train book and a car book!

A Busy Day
We had a very busy, but fun day, on Saturday. We started out meeting Uncle Chris, Aunt Patti, Max and Lucy for lunch. The boys had fun sitting together and, later, running through the mall together. Max taught Rudy how to run up and down the ramps.
Here are the two peas in a pod eating together.
Then from there we went to a birthday party for T, my friend Vincie's oldest son. The party was at a coffeehouse that had a huge play area for the kids. Rudy had a lot of fun. He especially liked the swinging bags that he could run through.
There were a lot of kids there and some of the older ones were kind enough to help the younger ones out. L helped Rudy get all the way up to the top and then slid down the slide with him. As you can see he really enjoyed it.
Rudy hasn't yet figured out how to climb all the way up by himself but I'm sure in time he will. We'll just have to keep going back there regularly (too bad it's about 1 1/2 hours away!). And of course what could be better at a party than a cupcake!

Happy Birthday, Uncle Chris
Hope you have a great day! It's hard to believe this is my baby brother. :)
