This weekend was our annual start of summer camping trip with friends. This year we ended up in Cape May. Friday night was beautiful, so we headed down to Sunset Beach to watch the sun set. The children headed right for the water, and fully clothed (except Rudy who had to put a bathing suit on before we went) went running and splashing into the water.
For once, we have a picture of just adults; it's usually all about the kids!
After watching the sun go down, we had ice cream and then headed back to our campsite for the night.
In the morning, the kids got ready for the beach and spent a lot of time jumping rope.
There were also light saber battles.
We drove to Wildwood for some beach time. We had lunch on the beach and then headed back to the campground.
Once back at the campground, some people rested, while others headed to the lake at the campground. Rudy and Lily G. had fun on this slide.
Some went to the lake AND rested there.
And after all were well rested, we headed to the pool at the campground.
Hopefully these kiddos are forming lifelong friendships.
We had dinner after all that swimming, then made s'mores.
Some of the kids made s/mores with peeps (and thought it was the coolest thing!)
And then there was more playing and more jumping rope.
Breakfast our last morning.
After packing everything up, we were trying to pick a place for pictures. The sun was patchy in some places, so I asked Rudy to stand at this tree so I could see if it was good for picture taking. This is the pose I got. Heaven help us!
Eventually the picture taking commenced.
All the kids.
Our Guatemalans.
Family pictures.
The Gjerdes
The Henrys
Everyone.
One last good-bye
